Founded by Laura Elliot Allen and Sherry Donovan, the Bats & Builders Softball Tournament supports the SHYM Program at the YWCA. Bats & Builders Softball Tournament supports the SHYM Program at the Halifax YWCA.
The SHYM Program, Supportive Housing for young single mothers, offers long-term housing, parenting support, and life skills development for Young Mothers ages 16 to 24.
Through guided goal planning and wraparound supports, participants can begin to dream and work towards the future they want for themselves and their family.
The 2024 Tournament will be held on August 24th at the Graves-Oakley Baseball Field located at Leiblin Park and has had overwhelming response for participants and sponsors.
All proceeds from the tournament go to support the SHYM program which the main event organizers partook at a time in their lives when they were in need.
These two local heroes now want to give back to the program to help other young mothers who find themselves in similar predicaments they once did.
